Privacy Policy — Transcript Exporter for YouTube
Last updated: 2026-06-12
The short version
We collect nothing. This extension does all of its work locally in your browser. There is no account, no server of ours, and no analytics or tracking.
What the extension does with data
- Transcripts and video metadata are read from the YouTube page you are viewing (or from a playlist/channel you choose to export) and are processed entirely on your device. They are shown to you, copied to your clipboard at your request, and/or saved to your Downloads folder. They are never sent to us or to any third party.
- Your settings, the resumable bulk-job state, a local diagnostics log, and a
cached copy of our YouTube-selector configuration are stored using Chrome's
local
storageon your device. This data never leaves your browser. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension. - The diagnostics log records only technical outcomes (which retrieval method was used, success/failure, timing, and error codes) to help you and us debug a failing video. It contains no personal data and is shown to you in Settings; it is shared only if you choose to copy and send it in a bug report.
Network connections the extension makes
- youtube.com — to read transcript data and operate YouTube's transcript panel, as part of the feature you invoked. These requests run in your normal browser session, the same as ordinary page activity.
- Our configuration domain (libertybella.io) — the extension may download a small JSON configuration file that tells it where YouTube's transcript data lives, so we can fix breakages quickly when YouTube changes. This is a one-way download of data only (no code is fetched or executed), and the request sends no personal information about you.
- Freemius (only if you purchase) — the paid upgrade is handled by Freemius (https://freemius.com), our payment provider and merchant of record. The purchase happens on Freemius's hosted checkout; they (and their payment processor) handle your payment details under their privacy policy. We never receive or store your payment card details. To activate and validate your purchase, the extension sends your license key along with a randomly generated device identifier and a coarse device label (e.g. "Chrome on Windows") to Freemius — no personal or browsing data.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your browsing history, transcripts, search terms, or any personal data.
- We do not use analytics, advertising, fingerprinting, or third-party trackers.
- We do not download video or audio, and the extension does not process your data with AI or send any of it to AI services.
Data retention
All extension data is local and persists only on your device until you clear it or uninstall the extension. We have no database of users.
Children's privacy
The extension is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children, and we collect no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and the version published with the extension.
